Personal Training

At Core Strength Inc., exercise is an experience. Its biomechanics specialists are expert in educating clients in technique because how an exercise is performed is just as important as what it is. Clients receive the highest level of attention and instruction throughout their workouts. At Core Strength Inc., the quality of every rep matters.

Core Strength Inc. eschews the one-size-fits-all approach to personal training used in most commercial gyms. Each client is assessed prior to working out using Muscle Activation Techniques™ in order to determine the current state of his or her mechanics and what opportunities for motion are available. It’s like checking all of the parts before taking the car out for a drive the first time. Exercises are selected to be appropriate and challenging on an individual basis.

The principles of RTS® (Resistance Training Specialist) inform the personal training at Core Strength Inc. Particularly important is the  principle of Microprogression®, the idea that exercises should be progressed in the smallest reasonable steps. Depending on goal, an exercise can be progressed by manipulating a number of factors: control, range of motion, surface performed on, effort, intensity, speed, number of reps or sets, load, etc. This allows the body adequate time to adapt at the chemical and cellular level. Personal trainers at other gyms might say that “you need to shock your body” but that risks systemic inflammation and injury, both of which actually prevent the positive adaptations that most clients want (strength gains, fat loss, mobility, etc.).
